Celebrating Social Services

When things are at their most challenging it is typically a Social Worker who can step in and bring order to the chaos. It is their superpower! Here at Shady Oaks, we have two amazing Social Workers: Amy Smith, Social Services Director and Jenna Hanson, Social Services Assistant.

Amy has worked at Shady Oaks for almost 24 years and says she loves her job. She likes the fact that every day is different and there is never a set plan for what will happen. Amy says, “Shady Oaks is a fun place to work and is like a second family”.

Jenna has worked at Shady Oaks for 17 years and loves making personal connections with the residents. She says the hardest part of her job is missing the residents when they go home. Both Amy and Jenna agree that we can learn so much from this generation of people. Our residents have great stories, and gifts to share.

Amy and Jenna support our residents and their families by working with state and federal programs and by working with all departments here at Shady Oaks. They also spend a great deal of time talking to the residents and their families. Amy and Jenna want to guarantee that “all residents and family needs are met” and that all residents are treated with dignity and respect. They not only work with residents while they are here at Shady Oaks, but also help with seeking out services once residents leave our care.
